Biography
    Maxis software is a video game company founded in the United States. Maxis were acquired by Electronic Arts in 1998. Now it is under the EA Company. Maxis is called “The father of simulation”, it have some famous game such as The Sims series, Sim City series and Spore.
    In the year of 1987, Jeff Braun and Will Wright created a new type of game. Two years later, Maixs became the top of simulation games. The sales of the series of The Sims reached nearly 10 million sets. It is the oldest and most dazzling star in the history of game. After that, they named all of their games “Sim”. They are called the series of Sims.
    Maxis have a unique understanding of the simulation game. The essence of it is not in the business but in the simulation. The concept of this game is published with SimCity. Maxis established its position of video games and started a revolution of games. After that, many of works were affected by it, even many famous games in them.
Historical journey development:
After the success of ‘SimCity’, they have published ‘Sim Earth’, ‘Sim Ant’, ‘Sim life’ and ‘Sim classic’. This series made Maxis gradually better.
‘Sim Earth’ is an obviously copy game from ‘SimCity’, because it only enlarges the stage from city to earth. ‘Sim Ant’ has made a great update in technology, e.g. game screen tended to be more finely and rich.     Today we are consolidating Maxis IP development to our studios in Redwood Shores, Salt Lake City, Helsinki and Melbourne locations as we close our Emeryville location. Maxis continues to support and develop new experiences for current Sims and SimCity players, while expanding our franchises to new platforms and developing new cross-platform IP.
    These changes do not impact our plans for The Sims. Players will continue to see rich new experiences in The Sims 4, with our first expansion pack coming soon along with a full slate of additional updates and content in the pipeline.
All employees impacted by the changes today will be given opportunities to explore other positions within the Maxis studios and throughout EA. For those that are leaving the company, we are working to ensure the best possible transition with separation packages and career assistance.
Finally, I think Maxis's footsteps will not stop; Sim's legend is far from over.
